Default bent pushrods after cam install

my buddy installed a cam and then bent his pushrods. how could he put the cam or timing gears in wrong?

There are numerous ways to do it wrong. What is the lift of cam? Which rockers did you use? Ratio? Were the springs changed?

Sounds like spring coilbind, and the weakest link was the stock pushrods.

does a 94 z28 lt1 have a different style cam the the 97's besides the cam dowel pin?

everything is stock the cam is a cc305 he was going to put a cc503 but sent him the wrong one. its a .510 .510 276 290 lift cam

i have a 97 timing gear and its differnt then his 94 gear why is this? the teeth are all off.

The cam styles are the same

The springs could not take the lift, they bound, and bent the pushrods. So at a minimum you will need to change the pushrods, replace the valve springs, and HOPE the lifters and cam are ok...

How may miles or minutes before they bent?

97 has a crank trigger on TC

What do you mean the teeth are all off? Are you talking about the gear 'teeth' that drives the water pump drive? Your car might have an electric water pump and therefore, the person changed and used a dfferent timing chan gear...

well just so everyone knows my buddy did this and im trying to fix it and i did. he never lined the dots on the timing gear so it was really off its only his 2nd time doing a cam and the first 1 i did most of the work thanks for the info
