Default LE2 & LE3 guys any info

I check out llyod elliots page and he only has information about his head port, most of his packages come with cams........ does anyone know the ratio of the cam that comes with his packages ?

Also, i have heard the the LE2 package is actually better the the LE3 package, any information on that either.

That doesn't even make sense. What does he do to make them not work with the stock pistons? I have LE3s and SRP 11.1:1 compression pistons and a CC306, car runs hard but I'm planning a set of Bret ported darts and a custom solid roller cam in the next few years

the LE3 won't work on a stock piston because the valves over lap the cylinders...

I'll bet that its because of the cam that comes with the LE3 maybe too much lift at the right moment ?

But ecen with a 2.08 inch valve it does not overlap the cylender.

I thought the piston to valve clearance issue was with the LS1's only? Never heard of that issue with the LE3 LT-1 Heads???

lift doesn't exactly matter... you change the stuff that comes into play with that either way...

Which is better really depends on your setup and what you want. The LE3 heads really shine on a car thats stroked out and has true duals, monoblade, etc. etc. Llyod told me the LE3 heads alone over the LE2 heads are worth about 5hp if your the average joe with a 58mm TB, Long Tubes with a Y-Pipe, etc. etc. and close to 10hp if you've got the monoblade, true duals, others things I cant recall. So for the average Joe the 5hp isnt worth the extra $300 or so. As far as the cams, you get a cam thats matched to your setup and what you want. You could run a stage 1 or 1.2, 1.3, 1.5 cam with the stage 1 heads, stage 2 heads etc. its whatever works for your setup and Lloyd will pick the right one out for you.

"1, 2, 3, 4 = the "stage" which relates to RPM range basically of the cam, higher the number the more cubes and RPM range of the cam

.1, .2, .3, .5 etc = the revision on the cam. With the exception of the .5, a larger number after the decimal point means it's a newer design. This is a lot like software revisions. The LE1.5 was made to fit between the LE1 and LE2 in terms of RPM range.

HL, EM etc.... = usually a change to the cam to fit different springs (HL) or to work with Emissions (EM) pretty simple."

"customers get their cam and read the LE1.2, 1.3, 1.5, etc on the back and post that up. It doesn't mean anything really other than their specs were a lil different than the most common LE1 cam used."

quoted from Lloyd and Bret

Stealth explained it real well.

Just call and we can get you the heads you want/need and the right cam to do what you are wanting to do.

the 2.055 valves in the LE3 heads hang off the deck and will have some piston to valve clearance problems witrh very much cam at all. A SRP or mahle piston with bigger intake valve notch is what you really need.

A customer running a small enough cam to have the piston to valve clearance with the LE3 heads and 2.055 valve would be better off with the LE2 heads anyway.

I wasn't trying to make a big deal out of it, but it didn't make sense to me, but I forgot about the small valve reliefs in the stockers compared to other pistons. I guess I'm in the clear with my LE3s and SRPs, at least I have been for the past 2000 miles But I'm more than happy with my LE3s, could probably get a few more ponies out of a bigger cam though

if you have the extra $300, the LE3 heads would get you a lil more top end power (5-8 HP) over the LE2 heads. As long as you have the budget, that is a better choice for THIS set up.

5 different people can ask the same question (if LE3 heads are a better choice) and get a different answer due to THEIR list of mods, cubes, gear, stall, shift RPM, budget, etc, etc. but YOUR set up would benefit from the bigger heads.

If you ever get or have a sound clip, post it up. I would love to hear it. Personally I'm pretty much computer illiterate.

I'm running the LE2 heads with a LE2.2 cam and good lord that thing sounds freaking awesome!!! I get lots of old school guys stopping me saying how it sounds like old Chevelle's and Camaro's.

When I forge the bottom end I plan on keeping the heads and stepping up to a 3 or 3.2 cam.
