Cam, Nitrous Noob question...
I am slowly gathering the parts for a cam swap, and I think I am going to be using the cc306 ( I know blah blah no off the shelf cams so on so forth) anyways. I have already got my springs, retainers, locks, seats. When I do the swap I will also be putting a set of lts on. I will also be putting a new opti and wp while I am in there. Also new gaskets, front main and rear main seal. So on so forth. I will be getting a mail-order tune, probably Trifecta because there won't be any down time with that one and its cheaper. The reason for the "off the shelf cam" is the same. Not as much money for a dyno tune and I can get a mail order tune. I know it doesn't pull as much on the bottom end and starts mid-way through the power band but that is fine for now. Will be going more in depth in the motor here in the future. (i.e. heads, rrs, etc, etc). My main question is how does this cam relate to nitrous? Is that possible? I am 100% new to nitrous. So I am interested in this set up. I am only shooting for low-mid 12's. Will also be doing more suspension in the future and I already have a set of nitto dr's. Shout me some ideas. Thanks in advance.

I went 12.38 on the motor with that cam. I know some have done better but it did it and I had less bolt on's then some. It also would go low 11's on a 150 shot. I even pulled off a 10.9 so have fun and plan on shifting around 6500.

How about a little less cam? No need to go that high with the rpms to make some decent HP and the motor and trans will thank you. The nitrous doesn't care what cam you have. Your not looking at much more HP with any cam that would lean more towards a nitrous set up. Maybe 5-10 rwhp more at the lower levels of nitrous use, which I consider a 150rwhp shot or less.
With that said, I've heard that the cc306 is a decent nitrous cam, but I would keep the rpm down on a stock shortblock. My puny cam peaks at 6000 and the shift points are set at 6300, just to give you some reference to go by.

Yea nitrous is not a must I just wanted to make sure this cam would be ok. I thought Ihad read something about the overlap of this cam not making a good nitrous cam. As childish as it sounds, this cam sure sounds mean...and I like that. And I have read you can still get into the 12's with it easily without shifting at 900000k rpm.

Shift points are going to be a lot lower than most think they are. Most people on here go by what it looks like on paper but if you talk to a good tuner you'll find you only have to shift at 6300 - 6400. I was also told by a local engine builder that this cam loves nitrous. I love this cam and think it's a great choice if you want to go big. You should see low 12's on motor if you have a good tune and supporting mods.
