The one thing you must remember is that by no means can a plug wire touch any part of the exhaust. It can be real close, but never touch. Heat sleeves are a joke for plug wires since you have hardly any clearence to work around and even that should not touch a primary or any exhaust component.

I went through 3 sets of plug wires (all wires had heat sheald thing but still burned through) and for some reason they would literally touch the headers. i also just ordered OTVC wires, still waiting on them.

zip ties are your friend. use lots of them and tie the wires close to the engine block

I would imagine that should fix your issue because I've only heard good about the OTVC sets and you route the wires so you should be able to get them out of the way. I actually just ordered them myself.

I can't blame you. it looks like my install is gonna cause several headaches i deffinitely wouldn't want to take them out once they are in.

be careful with that header wrap!!! I had a friends car catch on fire while cruising the freeway... somehow oil got on one of the primaries, and caught on fire.... fried a lot of wires!! But was able to put it out: some one stopped and had a fire extinguisher..... **** was scarry!

buy a set of taylor 8mm race wires. they're on ebay for like 60 bucks. ive had them on my car for 2 years and several of them were on the manifolds and they have never given me any problems. buy them with the kit and you shouyld have no problems.

no need to do header wrap on the whole thing..... just buy the accell plug wirre boots and use them for the area that are close..... or reroute them using a bracket or tie strap nicely done to pull them away from the header.... aso you can buy some header wrap and just wrap the small areas that are close to the plug wires about 1 inch wide.... of course if you have like 3 or 4 areas it might not look great but i did one area on my 68 and it dont look bad.... plus hell you gotta do what ya gotta do to keep from melting wires!

ya i have heard some scary stories about header wrap without silicone catching fire. the DEI kit that i bought came with a can of 1500* silicone that you spray on to seal it from the elements.
