Optima battery problems! Need Help!
Alright, here is the problem. Over the past 6 months i have gone through 3 Optima yellowtop batteries. Each time they start off fine...starting, charging everything. Then about 2 months they start to crap...Not starting and such. What they hell could be causing this?

Man that must be getting expensive, those are not cheap! I just picked up a optima red top and installed it yesterday... did they replace yours under the 3yr. warranty that comes with the battery? And does anyone know the difference between the red and yellow top's? I noticed the yellow was 20 bucks more...

Yellow=high amperage needs

The yellow tops are deep cycle batteries and are not meant to be used as a starting battery. They are meant to recover from a lower discharge state then the red tops. The red tops are a starter battery replacement. They do not have the deep cycle properties that the yellow top does.

Not to hijack thread but I'm having the same problem with my red top; it seems to be getting low within a couple of days whether the car runs or sits. I've been too busy to check for a draw-what's the best method ?

Are you running an alarm in your car? They can drain the battery pretty quick! Mine will die within a week, so I bought a battery quick-disconnect from my AP store. Cheap, only about $35, connects directly to the neg. battery terminal, and disconnects power by turning a **** 180 degrees. Pretty easy, and effective.
