350 to 400 hp in a LT1 is a big jump. Most bolt on cars make anywhere from 280ish to 310ish. Depending on how happy the dyno is. Mild cammed cars can make in the 320-350ish range and a h/c car usually makes 360-390ish+. This all being on stock cubes or 355ci.

A 383ci stroker motor with h/c and supporting mods can make 400ish to the wheels fairly easy. If you're planning on making much over 400 you'll have to do a 383. All these numbers are assuming you're wanting to stay N/A. Any power adders, N20, Turbo or S/C blows all these numbers and makes them look retarded.

I say the first 5 mods to do in my opinion would be a good set of headers, ORY and catback, you already have the cold air, and honestly for pure satisfaction of driving the car I'd throw a set of gears in it. Gears can truely take a car that's ok to drive, to a blast to drive.

FWIW also, if you're planning on rebuilding, it'd be a sin to throw the stock cam back in...find a nice cam you like, along with supporting valvetrain and go at it.

Goodluck.

I say go with some longtubes/ory http://www.byunspeed.com/product_inf...2786dcc02fc613 (ory = off road y pipe). Then get a mail order tune for the mods, and go from there.

H/C = heads and cam, which at your mileage would require a rebuild of the motor.

350-400 at the crank or at the wheels?
A cammed car can pull it off at the crank, add a set of heads and you can get it to the wheels.
Either solution requires valvetrain upgrades (springs and rockers at a very minimum) and a good tune.
More likely, you'll want new pushrods, lifters, larger injectors, rocker studs and guideplates.
Supporting bolt-on mods include cold air intake, headers, gears and catback.
Autos benefit from a stall (the stall speed and torque ratios depend on your application).

You can also reach the goal with N20 or a forced-induction setup.
It all depends on what you want to drive.

With 175K on the ODO, you may want to consider a rebuild (do it now, or end up doing it later ... whatever you like)
While it's apart, you have an opportunity to upgrade the bottom end.
The options are limited only by your pocketbook and ambition.
At the very least, a good high-mileage tune-up and some basic maintenance would be a great idea.

In the mean time, you'll want to do some reading.
Browse the forums, specifically the FAQs.
See what others have done, both the things that work and the things that don't.
That will help you forge a long-term plan for your car and avoid having to undo/redo things later on.
Most of the people here (myself included) have learned at least a few things the hard way.

Free Advice: Resistors inline with sensors, electric superchargers and pretty much anything advertised on 3am infomercials are a complete waste of time and money.
