Default 58mm TB?

Well I'm looking to buy a Holley 58mm tb, but I'm just wondering if anyone could tell me a good site they know of to buy off. A buddy of mine was telling me about a tyban...or tyben performance or something where they were dirt cheap, but I can't seem to find anything on that. So if anyone knows anything about that or any other site please let me know. Thanks a lot.

350ish is about what they cost new. I have never seen one "dirt cheap" I'm assuming your intake manifold is not stock.

Yeah I got the stock manifold, but I'm planning on going with Lloyd Elliot stage 2 cam and heads pretty quick and it recommends a 58mm tb. I heard this "tyban" place has them down around 300ish.

Could be. He said he found this place a while ago, but hasn't seen much on it since.

Your stock intake won't do unless you send it to Lloyd as well. Factory openings are 54mm, and ported heads won't match the intake then

$360 from Summit.

The stock intake will with the LE setup, it just won't be optimal.
I don't know anyone who's done a ported VS unported dyno comparisson,
but I'd expect a good 7-10rwhp difference.
The stock TB will be a restriction, stepping up to a 58 would be a wise investment IMHO.
(Again, no dyno results to support that opinion)

If anyone wants to front the cash for a few dyno runs, I'd be happy to do the TB back-to-back test.
The plenum swap is a little more involved, I'd have to check with the operator before saying I can do that.

I've actually been thinking about trying a monoblade to see what I can gain with the new setup.

450HP is around the limit for the stock TB since it flows around 800cfm. I'm not sure exactly how closely the intake and head ports are, but assuming they're damn near the same, LE1 heads would have bigger ports than the intake would. So yes, while it WILL work, it just would be silly to go through all that and stick on a stock intake.

Also, he'll want his computer tuned for the new setup, or he'll REALLY be missing out of power.

We're currently doing a budgetish LT1 swap into my friends 240sx and we bought the summit 58mm TB and I must say it is as good or better quality than my Holley I used to have was. I would buy the summit over the holley any day especially for the price difference!

Absolutely!
Running an H/C car with a stock tune would be a very bad idea.
At the very least, get a mailorder tune.

FWIW, I picked up 26rwhp between the "street" tune we did with my friend's laptop and a wideband O2
to get it running VS the Dyno tune we did at Ed Wright's shop in Tulsa.

I would too, just because I think the CNCed TB doesn't look right on a factory intake Now, on a sheetmetal, whole different story!

Might go with a Ewp but not to on that sure yet.
Once it all comes together It will get dyno tuned at Speedinc. Ill let you all know what it pulls.
Whats your guess?

It is CNC'd I wasn't expecting it to be but it is, summit lists 2 part numbers with identical specs but one is out of stock, it must be the cast one. The one I got apears to be CNC'd and it looks awesome, non of the hardware looks cheap like china parts usually have.

They don't make a cast one as far as I know. Their part numbers are a bit wonky. I think the one might be for 93s, but I'm not sure. The one says LT1 but it's for TPI years heh.

Where did you get that steering wheel in your sig??

As for the throttle body, you will pay north of 300 unless you buy used. I would cruise the FS threads here, many good deals to be found.

Looks like your run of the mill Grant with a Pontiac horn button. Grant even makes nice aftermarket steering wheels with airbag provisions.
