Default Ported Throttle Body?

I know a lot of the LS1 guys port their Throttle Bodies.. But would it do anything for the LT1 TB? I tried searching, but only LT1 Throttle Body "for sale" threads came up.

Thanks,
- Mike

The stock 48mm can be ported to 52mm and now 54mm are popping up as well. Will it help? Yea, but only if you have the mods to merit it, and a A4 will need to be tuned to account for the change in air intake which screws with the shift points. The one thing I'm glad I don't have to worry about with my non-PCM controlled trans

So would it run pretty bad then? Or would it just need to be tuned for best results?

Thanks for the info.

Yea, it'll run just fine. Shifts get a bit off though and it CAN eventually damage your transmission.

What do you mean by that? And how would it damage the transmission?

Thanks for the help guys.

You'll have to wait for someone with an electronic trans, who knows about what happens when the TB size is changed w/o a tune. I didn't pay much attention to what all happens, since 93s are still technically a 700R4.

TPS sensor helps dictate Trans line pressure. With bigger TB you're getting more air a lower TPS angle. So PCM see lower TPS % and calls for less line pressure.

BTW no point in hand porting a TB unless you make your own Butterflies to install as that's the restriction point...
