guys got any ideas on what dark smoke from exhaust on hard take off or pedal to the floor?

other wise it runs great.

lol na 96 Z28. just got all the oil leaks fixed but my buddy said when i passed him there was a bit of dark smoke. and when its in idle you can hear a tapping noise from under the hood any ideas?

Black smoke is fuel, meaning your running rich.

haha i was jp, but dark smoke usually means its running rich i think? not quiet sure, let someone else chime in.

ok ive got fuel and oil whose right the oil leaks got fixed so oil burning from somewere may be a bit far fetched and you can deffintly smell gas from the exhaust.

Dark smoke, as in black, is gas from running rich. Oil makes blueish tinted white smoke.

yea he said it was black like a my Z lol what should i do get it dyno tuned or will one of those hypertech tuners work?

If you have bolt-on's only or a mild cam, then a mail order tune from pcm for less or madz will work well for you. Anything more than that would benifit most from a hands on tune or dynotune. I would not recommend a hypertech, that stuff is out dated.

i had a pcm for less tune on my cam and bolt on motor and i had black smoke at full throttle at times, but i was also murdering everything i raced believe it or not
