Textralia Clutch chatter
Hey guys well I installed an 0Z-700 Z-Grip almost a month ago. Since then I have atleast 300 stop and go traffic light miles on it... and about 500 commute and highway miles on it. I don't know if I'm impatient or incompetant or both but at about 10 miles on the clutch I started getting serious chatter, it progressively started getting worse ALOT worse. It was getting really bad to the point that it would flex the trans to the point that the y-pipe would start hitting the floor.
Well its recently gotten better but only slightly and I attribute that to slipping the clutch everytime I first start it up. 2nd gear let it out without any fuel.
A friend of mine has this exact same clutch and didn't have ANY problems at all... chatter went away within 50 miles for him. When he drove my car he was suprised at how stiff and short my pedal travel was. This is due to my Tick Adj. MC. Well it was set at that setting for my LS6 clutch and I had not re-adjusted it. Well he figured that might be my problem so I increased the pedal travel quite a bit. That deffinately helped.
Thats where I'm at... Its better but still lots of chatter... I'm looking for reassurance or some good pointers... what do I do?
Adjust it more? Slip the hell out of it? Drive it for 10000miles until I get sick of the chatter... I'm worried that over adjusting the pedal and slipping it continuosly will just damage the clutch.
thanks.
