mgw shifter kinda hard to put in gear?
I recently purchased an mgw shifter for my ss, and it seems a bit hard to get into gear, feels nice and short and all, but just a bit hard to bang the gears. Is anybody having this issue? Is there any adjustment or something i might have missed? The amount of pressure i have to put on it to shift into gear kinda slows my shifts down.

I wouldnt classify it as notchy. Its more of a secure into gear feeling. Notchy is Pro 5.0.
Ill call up MGW on Monday and ask them what to do. My shifter isnt notchy, hard, or even difficult to get into gear. Only time it is is early in the morning and shifting to 2nd. My car doesnt like that shift when its cold at all.

If you ever have a problem getting into reverse something I've noticed since I've had my shifter is put it in fifth real fast then reverse is easy as cake, if you get what i mean by that.

The 5.0 was way to loud, the NGW is much better, was a bit notchy at first but I machined a 1.5" longer stick for it and was much better and faster through the gears? I think people put to short of stick on their shifters and lose the leverage needed. Longer stick = less effort between gears.

Anybody else experiencing this too? I've had my MGW for about 6 months now and the throw is short and everything but the amount of force required to slide it into gear pretty much negates any advantage in shifting speed over the stock shifter.

I totally agree with that. Has a shorter throw but requires more forc which slows the shift down. My shifts now might be slower than with stock. It just feels too notchy. Anyone else???

I just installed mine today in my Silverado and its a good secure shift, but a bit tough I agree. Feels better than stock and the B&M though. I am actually putting a longer stick on mine to get it through the silverado console so that should make it easier to shift, but slightly longer throws.

This thread may be old but still relevant...I'm with 2winss, so many threads about these things being stiff and not centering. I never saw what was so great about them in the first place.

I have an MGW and it has over the last 3 months been harder and harder to get into reverse. FIrst it started out as an annoying thing. THen it turned into okay lets get into reverse. Then a LETS GET INTO REVERSE and slam it in. Now its a have car off turn the key, get into reverse THEN start the car. Any ideas if this is the shifter or something else that may be causing it?
