I think its worth mentioning again. That going with the T56 magnum at $2800.00 for street use on modified heavily modified engine. Then you can probably get close to a $1000.00 for your T-56. This makes the T56 magnum a $1500.00 transmission brand new and warrantied for 700 HP. Seems like the right move on a car that isn't designed for strip only use?

Ok, here's my question, or dilemna then..... Few guys are working the electricals out on TBSSowners.com, and looking into a T-56.... Should I buy a used 56 and have tick do the Stage 2 with cryo, or go stage 3, or buy a 6060? Mind you, this will be in a 4800 lb truck, that will ultimately push somewhere just over 500 to the wheels from a forged 408/L92 setup...

+1 on the TR6060 for your application. Now I have 3 guys (900/870/680 RWHP on Vettes) running TR6060's with very good results. I'll get 2 of them toward the end of the year for me to freshen them for the following year. I'll post what I find then.

Power isnt my concern so to speak.... I'm worried about putting that much power down and trying to move a 4800 pound non aerodynamic vehiocle without breaking anything. I am going to track it, but saw in one of the posts the 6060's arent in favor of it.

I'm the 900+RWHP Vette mentioned with the TR6060 and I've had great performance from my trans. One issue that I've had is an overspun-bearing sound when downshifting or leaving hard from a stop, but it is only occasional and another trans had that issue. When it was taken apart, no issue was found whatsoever. Second issue is after doing bomber runs in Mexico through 5th gear, approaching 200mph, I noticed it was getting a little difficult to shift to reverse. LS123 advised me that since the gears are cut helically, when putting a ton of power to the shafts, Each shaft tries to move in opposite directions from each other. There is a washer on the shaft, close to 5th, 6th and reverse that probably got cupped. That affects the ability to get into reverse.
LS123 will have the trans in 2 weeks to go through and take pics for us forum members. For the record, I have made a dozen passes down the track and give it a good bit of hell every time I get in the car. I've been told that I have a real problem because of how much I romp on it.

Very good info here. Going to put some serious power down this coming summer and was wondering which way to go tranny wise. Already have a built t56 through Six Speed Inc when they where still around. Sounds like I may just keep this t56 and take it to the next level. Still curious how those TR6060s look though after some real beatings though.

T-56 Magnum
So far so good. I broke the case of my t-56 at the Cruisin the Coast show in Mississippi last month. The insurance company gave me enough money to replace it with the Magnum. Just a few issues, like shifter location, slip yoke and shaft lenth. Other than that, it was an easy swap. Now I do have an older car with a transplant, but I got to give credit where credit is due. The gen III engines are awesome. GEN II SUCKS. They make a ton of power. I just dont like new cars.

OK, I finally got a chance to take the TR6060 apart. As much power that this trans has seen, it's in excellent condition. This trans will get some bronze fork pads and a longer pick up tube (to pick up fluid from the back of the case under acceleration). Enjoy the pictures.

I don't know any company that is doing faceplating on the TR's. I would not recommend using TR's for drag racing since they have very small engagement teeth compared to T56's. I would stick with a built T56's for drag racing.
