Synchros up /down position?

Default Synchros up /down position?

Im trying to rebuild my T56 and I have this doubth:

I saw a "line" in one side of the Synchros. This line is facing to the front or the rear of the trans?

Dunno if it's the right way, but I've always faced them all to the front of the trans (except when I flip the reverse synchro instead of replacing). I've seen all 4 synchros face both directions on bone stock transmissions, so figured it must not matter much.

I have the 95% of the rebuild done, I only need to close the tail to finish, and today I saw this:

I put all the synchos with the line facing to the rear!!!

what do you think??
I must need to open it and change the synchos or just close it and mount it?

They can go either way. I usually just put the lines to the rear of the unit when assembling the mainshaft assembly.

my stock ones faced towards the rear. it doesnt matter.

All the F body T56 came from the factory with the lines facing front of the trans. Most of the Vette T56 came facing toward the back. It can be installed either way.

Mine had never been apart and they were facing towards the rear.

UPDATE:

I finished the job and test the tranny and no problem, it works great. All the lines was facing the rear.
