About time for clutch help me choose I have been researching about clutches recently and think that the LS7 clutch will be best fit for me. My car is mostly street driven with occasional trip to the drag strip. As of now the motor is stock, will prob be that way or bolt ons only for a while at least, so this is leading me to think the ls7 would be a good choice.
Anyone have any other suggestions? or have issues with the ls7? I have read a couple posts about pressure plate issues with the ls7.
Other one i would possibly look into getting monster stage 2 or 3, any opinions will be appreciated.

so far im very happy with my LS7 clutch, had it for a while now with prolly 60 or so passes at the track with no issues. drives like stock just holds power better and doesnt fade or slip

Another ls7 clutch owner here. No complaints. I daily drove this car for awhile with my ls7 clutch and occasionally beat on it while I was bolt ons. Worked very well. It's a weekend car with a cam that I beat on now and it still does well. We will see how well it does with a 5-6k launch at the track in a few weeks.

I would think that you would really like a Monster Level 2. It's a full face unit like the LS7, but with a Kevlar friction material that will allow it to hold up to 525 hp/tq. It's a great clutch for a driver that has a car that is mostly stock and that also plans to increase the power of the car in the future.

alright thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it. If anyone else has opinions please feel free to post something up.
Another thing is should slave always be switched out too? The car has 42k miles on it.

SPEC Stage 2 or 2+ would be a great option. Either would more than cover your torque and usage plans. Let me know if you have any questions about these and I will be happy to assist you. Thanks!

I certainly suggest the replacement of the slave cylinder when installing a new clutch. After all, there is nothing worse than having to drop the transmission again as a result of a weak or leaky slave cylinder. We offer a replacement Slave for most LS based applications. Im running a Monster Level 5 and I love it. Best clutch Ive ever had in my car. Stock< SPEC< MONSTER. Just get the Monster Level 2 with the premium package so it comes with a new slave! You'll end up saving about $50 or more by getting the slave with the clutch and free shipping, cant beat that! Monster has extraordinary customer service as well.

I would say go with Monster. I have driven just about ever Monster, Spec, and Ram and I have to say Monster is the way to go. I would go ahead and replace the slave and get a remote bleeder. Make sure your rear main isn't leaking also. Not hard at all to replace if it is.

I have the speed bleeder now, have to decide what clutch I am going to go with, leaning towards the ls7 based on price and how I use the car.
Where is the best place to get the ls7 that you guys have found? so far GMParts Direct is looking like cheapest.

I've been running an LS7 clutch since 2008 and it's good, but the extra weight is noticeable. The engine responds slightly more slowly to throttle input than it did w/ the lighter stock clutch. I had to spend some time re-learning my heel-toe downshifts at NJMP last month as the engine wasn't blipping up as fast. Apart from that it's fine.
If I was doing the project again, I'd go w/ a Monster II with lighter chromemoly flywheel.

I have looked at scoggin dickey parts and they were more expensive, the lowest I have found so far is at GM Parts Direct. Could you feel a noticable difference also tyler? I am looking at the LS7 over the Monster just because the price savings, it is quite a bit cheaper from what I have found so far at least.

I used to have a textralia now I have a monster stage 4. You can't even tell it's aftermarket. You get some chatter at first but it goes away after you break it in for about 500 - 1000 miles. I love it.
