I will be putting an LS2 with bolt-ons into my car in a few weeks. I would like to change clutches while I'm at it.

What would you suggest for a car with ~400rwhp, used mainly on the street for casual driving, but will need a clutch to take a moderate share of abuse on the 1/4 mile.

You can't go wrong with a Monster Stage 3 or a Spec 3+ in my opinion.

Im in a simliar situation. looking for a clutch for my M6 swap with about the same power levels. Everything ive read says monster stage 2. i rarely go to the track and from what ive read the stage 3 can develop a squeal if its not beat on every once in awhile from the sintered iron getting glazed over. looks like an AWESOME clutch, just to manly for me right now.

The stage 2 i believe as well comes with a 12 month warranty. PLUS the premium package comes with a new slave cylinder.

I would recommend the Diamond Stage 2. Its a dual friction 12in setup $409 shipped right now. It carries a 12mo/12k mi warranty.

Though a SPEC Stage 3+ (recommended above) would be a bit of overkill you really can't go wrong with this kit. It is very drivable, has great torque capacity, and is extremely durable.

The flywheel on the engine now is from...a 2005 Chevy SSR.

Not sure if I will need a new one?

I am really looking for something that is streetable, but can take abuse too. I don't want to have to worry.

I have heard many people using LS7 clutches. Would that be a (good) option for me?

ive heard ls7 fail all of the time. My buddy has a spec 3 in his 430hp car and its slipping after a year of mainly street driving. I have a monster 3 in mine its great. A sponsor is doing a GP on them right now

I have a USED Tex and I am very happy with it. I bought it from a member on here that had about 20 passes on it and it is still holding up great at the track.

I always took peoples opinion on which clutch to get with a grain of salt. Most have not seen a lot of the track and I'm sure a lot were also installed incorrectly. I only have experience with the Tex, street driving and at the track, so that's all I can recommend.

EDIT: Which ever clutch you go with I highly suggest you get the Tick master and remote bleeder if you don't have them already.

You can find positive and negative reviews for any clutch. Have either of you, Egg or Torchd, had one of our clutches that you have had an issue with. If not, can you provide support of the issue with your friends parts: pics etc...? Clutches do no simply start to slip on their own without cause or wear out on their own without cause. Have them contact me for assistance if theyr are interested.

As most of you realize, clutch life is a factor affected by many variables that include flatness of the parts used (flywheel) with the kit, installation, driving style, appropriate stage for your power output, and usage type.

Of course...it's always easier to just blame the clutch if there is an issue...but if you have a problem, even if you have someone elses parts, I am happy to help you determine the cause. Anyone that has been on this forum for longer than 5 minutes knows that I am interested in helping educate and inform customers...even when they aren't using our parts. In my whopping 215 RWHP 97 GT that clutch started slipping after ~4k miles

Then my buddy had a Spec Stage III in his 97 LT1, he beats the **** outta his Trans Am and barely made it ~7k miles.. And this was pretty much stock Trans Am with exhaust

i had a spec stage 3 in my trans am weekend driver cut 1.4 60 foot times
with 6500 clutch dumps on slicks.
no line lock for the burn outs.
i swaped to a auto in the car.so i removed the spec after about 15000 miles. it looked just as good as the day i installed infact sold it to a freind of mine who still has it in his car 2 year later.
