Monster 11" race clutch review
Its been a rough couple months, so when I got a phone call from fedex last night saying there was a 60lb package from SNL waiting for me, I was ecstatic!
Picked up the Monster 11" race clutch and installed it the same night.
There is simply something different about a product when you can tell it is loved. By that I mean, just pulling this clutch out of the box you can tell Monster cares about its product. Most places just throw everything in a single box and ship it. Every piece of this clutch was individually boxed. Spending a few minutes to look everything over, it all felt extremely solid and beautifully built! I opted for the steel flywheel as ive had bad experiences with the aluminum on turbo cars. So it sure wasnt on the light side but I really dont care as much about that, I just really hope this thing can hold on!
Install was super easy, directions were pretty straight forward.
Clutch pedal feel with the Tick master is really light. I wouldnt say stock feel, but its close.
Specs on my car:
600hp/700trq Forged ls1, Single rear mount turbo - 12lbs of boost
Day 1:
(2am 11/13) - 0 to 5 miles
On the first drive, the clutch was very chattery. Half because its a new clutch and half because I was getting used to the feel. (dont let this turn you away... its expected for a new clutch!) Drove it to the gas station and back, clutch got progressively less chatty.
(11am 11/13) - 5 miles to 50 miles
Clutch was pretty chatty on the cold start, got better as it warmed up. Pedal feel is great. Clutch seems much happier with less slip and a little more gas... Normal driving it shifts great, once rolling shes like butter. Getting into my inclined drive way is kind of a chore still as it gets very chattery. But it is getting less chatty.
50-150 miles
Still pretty chattery. Having a hard time finding the sweet spot for getting the car moving w/out chatter. Gotta get used to less slipping.
11/15
225 miles down!
Finally getting off the line with little to no chatter! I hate to admit it, but It was me... not the clutch causing the chatter. Blue99 was right. The last clutch I had was a tiwn and the first would slip really well, while the second was an on/off switch. So of course trying to use the same method on this clutch didnt work.
11/16
325 miles
Loving this thing more and more, definately getting used to it, finally. But when you do something it doesnt like, she tells you. haha
11/19
450 miles
Should be getting through the 500 miles today, for the car cruise tomorrow. Seems to be holding well, excited to start turning up the boost!
Ill keep you updated as I get through the 500 mile break in period!

Its a sprung hub.
Weight is probably a little over stock, havent weighed it. Its got 3.23 gears, 315 35 17 nittos... So with that and the turbo (having no power down low, unless I get the rpms up) I've gotta be serious about getting moving and give it a lot less slip. Loving this clutch more every time I drive!

I have 7K miles on my 11", and I love it. It really is the perfect clutch for a high HP DD. Looks like you got the 28lb flywheel. They also have an 18lb steel (which I have.) I do not believe that they offer aluminum any more. You do have to learn how to drive it, but it's not bad at all. I have the Tick MC in my car as well.
Not sure about the 7200+ comment, but that's about what I shift mine at.

He said in another thread that he was revving a stock bottom end l92 to 7800 or something and was having problems with a monster clutch. He comes into these threads and leaves these gay comments

This comment is ridiculous.
We've got numerous guys out there revving our units to 7500 plus rpms without issues, you are one of the very few that had issues.
If you don't have anything worth while to add to a thread then don't post, otherwise it's borderline bashing and it's a little aggrevating.
