Default MGW/Hurst Billet shifters--Pros/Cons

anyone with either one of these shifters prefer one over the other and for what reason? i am looking to buy on or the other for my nephew's car for a Christmas present and would like to hear both sides to either one of these. i can get a decent deal on either, but if one of them definitely ways out the other for quality, preference, etc. then that's what i will go with. his car is basically a daily driver with minimal mods, but he does like lay on it pretty hard from time to time. what opinion do you have or which would you choose with a $40 difference between the two?????? Thanks in advance!

anyone? he currently has a stock GM shifter in it currently.....there has got to be Camaros out there with either one of these shifters in them that someone can give me some insight on the pros and cons of either! let's hear them!!!!!! is the Hurst Billet a decent shifter for the money that he will be satisfied for a daily summer driver that he can race it periodically and be happy with it or spend $40-$50 more and buy the MGW shifter? what are anyone's thoughts on either of them?

I've never used the Hurst, but I have the MGW and really like it. You can do lots of searches on either one of them to find more opinions, however.

I would buy the MGW ,or the PRO 5.0 shifter. Both seem to be really well made.I wish I knew more info so I guess you could just call these suggestion's .I'm sure your nephew would love either one.I'm still on my stock hurst shifter. It does the trick but if I were 2 upgrade MGW would be my first choice, pro 5.0 2nd,hurst 3rd.Hope this helps.

99Formulam6r .Did you order your shifter directly from MGW or is there a cheaper route?

You have to go threw mgw,I think there 209.00,I haven't got mine yet but from what I read (and I research a lot before I buy something) there are shifters and then there is a mgw, best shifter period, from what I hear takes some getting used to ,but is very hard to miss a shift with a mgw,if your trying to save money a pro 5.0 is a good choice also but no where near the mgw, trust me I read and compared for over 5 hours

Trying both for yourself would be your best bet, but I would definitely recommend the MGW. It's quiet, smooth, and very precise.

Also, as BOBS99SS said, you have to order directly from MGW.

MGW makes their shifters to order. They are local to me and they only keep 2 or 3 F-body and corvette shifters boxed up behind the front counter. That's why they don't have them in a dealer network.

I've had both and the MGW is by far a much better shifter.

I bad both, the MGW is way better in all aspects smoother engagement, no noise and just a nice piece of work over all. I bought my MGW about 6 months ago and it was here within 2 days.

I grabbed a MGW last year and it's a nice piece.

Though you have to get used to that short throw.
