Early 2nd gear synchro engagement teeth sometimes shear off completely, causing the symptoms you're having. You'll probably need a complete rebuild along with a new upgraded 2nd gear.

When you say early, what do you mean? Year models or what? I have a 99 with a m6. Should this be something to be careful of?

F-body's generally got the updated 2nd gears in 2000. I wouldn't open up a trans to upgrade one, but if opening one up for any other reason, it should be on the list.

And bingo was its nameo. Came out of a 98. I was already planning the stage 3. I have just never experianced losing a gear with no noise or issues prior to the loss.
