monster stage 3 clutch kit Ok the 700hp/tq that this beast of a clutch is rated for is way overkill for the maximum 450hp/tq that my 99 z28 will have but I plan on doing weekend drag racing and the occasional run around the local road course. So it will definitely get the abuse but i also want it to be my daily driver, but it has to be able to handle that occasional abuse thats why I was looking at the stage 3. So what do you guys think, too much or should I check out something else? And other than the arp flywheel and pressure plate bolts will I need anything else? Last little question, do you locktite those bolts? Thanks

I Loctite mine...but I have never seen it required. But then again, I saw a flywheel come up through the floor of a 55 Chevy. Went through the bellhousing, through the floor, through the toes of his shoe, through the dash, and out the windshield. I take clutch and flywheel fastening pretty serious after seeing what one can do. I also am a firm believer in a scattershield now when warranted.

I had the monster 3 but downgraded to a monster 2. This was only because I had problems due to a bad install. In my opinion the level 3 was a bit much for a daily especially if you live in high traffic areas.
I love the level 2 so far but am still in the breakin period. I have no doubt it will handle that power since it is rated at 550hp and Monster rates thier clutches at wheel horsepower.
There is a c5 vette that is cutting 1.4 60fts and running 11.5s in the 1/4.
The only thing with the level 2 is you cannot hot lap it at the track due to it being semi-organic.
The Monster 3 you can hot lap the crap out of it without even batting an eye.
You just have to decide for yourself. My car sees more street than strip so I opted to get the level 2. Its easier to drive.

But unfortuately do to the installation error on mine causing issues at 1k miles I never really ended up being able to drive it normal.

I had the stage 3 also loved it but had problems with the pedal pressure issues and this was after a brand new clutch master......what was your issue ?? Also i suggest going with a tick if you havent already.

I think you're already sold... but I use to DD my car, put a monster stage 3 on it 2 years ago, it still got 20K miles of DD duty after that.. has had about 6 more put on it since then. It is noticeably stiffer than stock, but not horrible, but don't go run 10 miles and come back expecting to drive home (unless you're a marathon runner LOL). All that said, I have no chatter, just some noise on take-off if I haven't been driving it hard enough. Almost 30K miles on my clutch and it grabs as good as when it was installed initially

If you daily drive your car in traffic and have a decent size cam don't waste your money on a level 3...the clutch will start to squeal like a stuck pig because it gets glazed and i don't care how much you launch the car hard to get rid of the glaze it will come back..I can't stand it,makes my car sound like a pos...save your money and buy something better.
