You could put pretty much any behind an LS1. TKO600s are a popular 5 speed but you can get a rebuilt t56 for the same price. unfortunately the t56 is pretty much the only manual put in production vehicles that can handle a decent amount of power and can be easily found. People wanting $1500-$1800 for a used one is pretty steep if you ask me considering most have something wrong. The one I put in my 01 TA came out of my wrecked 00 and had 55,000 miles on it and doesn't shift as smooth as I think it should. I bought a rebuildable one from a board member for $500 and a level 2 kit from from Tick for $600 and that one is in my 89. So for less than what people want for a used one I have a freshly rebuilt and upgraded one.

be careful on "rebuildable" transmissions. depending on what failed, the case can distort. Then you'll just be breaking new internal parts every few thousand miles without knowing why.

i was looking for a t56 as well - gave up as with shipping cost and the unknown and core charges etc..

paid $2300 for the tko600 new delivered.. seems to be going price.. at least i know its brand new--

do you really want a double OD.. and its a much larger transmission not sure how big your tunnel is-- that was the deciding factor for me dont want to cut the tunnel in my 68 rsss

Take it from me.... depending on how many parts a t56 needs, its not cheap I needed all the speed gears but 3rd, all synchros, plus the basic rebuild kit/3/4 steel fork....1600 for the parts
