Default T56 rebuild in progress... ordering parts and have a question

I tore down my T56 because it got stuck in gear while reassembling my tailshaft. I found the problem was a broken 3/4 synchro key.

All the parts look to be in real good shape. The synchro sliders have a little wear, but don't look too bad to me. I probably should have gotten pics of both sides but didn't. I think these were the sides with the worst wear on each. Do these look OK to reuse?

The 1/2 slider:

The 3/4 slider:

I want to order my parts soon and I was planning on doing the stage 2 kit from Tick with steel fork and snap ring kit. What about billet keys for 1/2 and the bronze isolator cup?

I have plenty of pictures so if someone needs to see more let me know. Thanks!

All your sliders look fine.

Billet keys for 1-2 aren't a bad idea.

I prefer the stock cup; a proper plastic to metal 2-part epoxy to keep it in place is required.

I wouldn't feel bad reusing those sliders. I'd do steel fork, billet 3-4 keys, new pads & blockers at a minimum.

Thanks for the quick replies. I don't see the billet keys offered for 1/2 in Ticks stage 2 kit. Maybe if Tick doesn't use them in a rebuild they're not necessary. If I buy that kit I will definitely upgrade to steel fork. I noticed that the 1/2 inner cones don't come in the kit so I need to look at these. I need to further inspect everything a little closer anyways. Anything else specific to look for? Nothing else seemed to be broken, and the key didn't fly around the case which is a plus. The only thing I noticed was the VSS sensor pulled off by hand rather than a puller.

none of your pictures work.

T56s come with billet keys in the 1/2 synchro assembly.

What are you guys using for shifter cup? I had mine out this weeken and after 1000 miles or so of driving my GTA with its brand new Hurst billet plus and their plastic cup, I noticed that he cup is now distorted. Not sure if its causing any issues or not.

Thanks!

The shifter cup lives a long time if it is epoxied in like it's supposed to be (as Borg Warner specified in their original T56 service manual. The width of the 4 shift gates causes it to lift out. This isn't really a problem on 5 speed applications.

They're a solid metal. Not billet.

I ended up getting the bronze shifter cup. It was recommended to me by a couple different people.

The Pics are fixed now. I ordered all my rebuild parts and Billet keys are not standard in the T56. I was informed that the synchro assemblies do not come with billet keys. They come with the the standard stamped steel keys. I wanted billet 1-4 so I ordered my kit that way.

Hopefully my kit will be here mid week and I can get to reassembling and finally get it into my car. And a big thanks to jmd for all the help!
