Default transmission option?

Hi all I was hoping I could have figured this out myself to save me some embarrassment. But I wanted to ask im doing an ls1 swap in my rx7 fd an im at the point where im looking for a stick shift transmission. Now I was going thru the local junkyard an found a 99 silverado with a stick shift transmission its a 5 speed i think there called the nv3500 my question is can I use that transmission on my ls1 swap?

short answer for a multitude of reasons: no
You going to need a car trans to fit in that fd. A t56 or tko would be what you should be looking for IMO.

Anything is possible and it will bolt up. But the truck NV are typically the last choice, unless you have a truck. It's big, shifter location is off, gear ratios are not the best for cars.
You can bolt pretty much any trans that was hooked to a chevy motor in the last 40 years. A lot depends on what you'll use the car for, rear end ration, etc.

O okay thanks alot for your opinions most likely I will not be going that route. I heard that rsg makes a kit that you can use a t56 from an lt1 with an ls1 engine im probably gonna go that route.

Sorry to tell you, but another bad option. he LT1 T56 swap will end up costing more than an LS1 T56.
Also be sure the weight, size, and ratios of a T56 will work with your car. The fact you've gone from a 4.0 1st gear trans to a 2.6 1st kinda tells me you have not thought about that aspect.

A cheap alternative also is a borg warner super t10 it's a 4 speed manual. It also has the 26 spline input. Can use an ls clutch as well as the stock t10 bell

A fully built T5 might be the solution for you. Its smaller, lighter weight and can be built to handle around 500hp depending on the vehicle weight. It would probably fit a lot better in an RX7 as well.

I am selling my tick super magnum tr6060 that is basically new but damaged in shipping. It has a rattling noise like something is rolling around inside of it. There is also cosmetic damage (scratches) on the input shaft also. I'm selling it for cheap if that's an option for you.
