Info needed about T56 Magnum / TR 6060 input shaft
Hi everyone, this is my first post so I'm sure you will all let me know if I do something wrong.
So I am building an open wheeler race car using a Corvette C6 transaxle (T56 Magnum / TR 6060 / MM6) and I intend to mount this directly to the engine for a mid engine configuration.
I know I have to swap out the front plate and replace it with a clutch housing to suit the motor and a different input shaft, as my understanding is, that the MM6 input shaft does not accommodate a throw out bearing.
My problem is that the transaxle is from a Grand Sport and my research shows that they use unique gearing so if I have to swap out the front shaft I may not be able to obtain a replacement (clutch compatible) shaft that will mesh with the front gear on the countershaft and therefore may have to change the complete gear set.
Can someone advise if my info is correct and maybe offer a less expensive option if that is so ?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you Andrew for your reply.
I believe you are correct as I was just looking on Tick Performance's site and I noticed that they are offering new Magnums for GM and Ford with the 2.97 1st gear which I believe the Grand Sport box is, so the input shaft must be clutch compatible.

The Magnum has a longer splined section though, and the main sahft does not step down in size after the spline like the old T56
Although they all use a similar design TOB
