Default mgw with hurst stick?

Thinking about finally getting an mgw for the ws6. However, I don't want a physically short shifter. I personally love the look of the hurst chrome flat type stick with a 6 speed black or white ball. Has anybody used a mgw and somehow transitioned to a set up like this? My only thought thus far would be having to cut and weld..... thoughts?

Am I the only one that wants a killer shifter without a super short stick, and good looks....well I guess that's just my opinion, anybody thought about this?

I have a hurt chrome stick and white ball on my core-shifter currently (hurst billet plus replica).

I'm going to be getting an mgw eventually and was flanning on cutting the base of the stick some, notching a piece of solid 5/8" steel rod so they slip together and welding it up.

If you search mgw hurst on the google theres images of others doing it.

Another alternative is getting the new hinson shifter. My buddy just got one and it seems to work very well.

Awesome thx for the info...I figured welding was gon a be the way to make it happen. Thx

Yea I did check the hinson shifter out and it looks like it's great quality. To me Im not sure the extra 140 bucks is worth it over the mgw...

The hurst stock will bolt directly to the Hinson shifter. My buddy just got one and I tried it in my car with my hurst stick this last weekend.

Well then haha, what r u r thoughts on that shifter? Have you messed with the mgw before as well to compare to the hinson?

Currently I have a core shifter (sold on ebay) thats a replica to the hurst billet plus, uses the same parts/springs. Its a pretty good shifter, but the hinson was clearly better on the 2-3 shift plus a shorter throw. I cant compare the hinson to the mgw but I'm torn on what to order.

I want to keep my stick and ball but will require cutting/welding with mgw where it bolts right on the hinson. I dont think the hinson is overpriced, I just think the mgw is a great bargain.

Hmm maybe I will consider the hinson a little more. I kinda wrote it off on price alone but I bet your right on price and value. By the way I love your 86 ss, it is super clean. I had an 86ss as my first car...blew the 200r4 doing a burnout. Swapped a t5 out of a firebird. Ended up selling it to help pay for my honeymoon. Wasn't bumed about getting rid of it cuz it needed some body work. Long story short I found it again, in much much worse shape than when I sold it. I would love to do a setup like yours on one someday.....anyways its killer

I see your shifter is for sale...does that mean you made a decision on a new shifter? Haha

Ya, I'm going to order an mgw to try it out, regardless if I sell mine or not.
