Default Reinstalling Tranny/clutch

Got the clutch all lined up and installed. Now, getting the imput shaft to mesh is a bitch! I THINK I finally got it and now am gonna try and use the longer studs it says to wind in to bring the tranny to mat with the bell housing.

Anything i can do to make this easier or anything ? How will i know if i got the tranny meshed correctly ? (new clutch, so thats why it wont just slip right on )

Dont pull the trans in w/long bolts. The disc & pilot bearng alignment is prolly off a little. Take it apart & recheck the alignment & it should pop right in.

It shouldn't have to be forced in...doing so can bend or break things. If the disc is lined up correctly then the tranny should fall into place fairly easily. Sometimes they are a little tight though.
Put a very light layer of grease on the input shaft if you haven't already.

The pressure plate shouldn't interfere with the installation of the tranny whether it is new or old. There are two things that could hold the tranny back...either the spring on the slave cylinder is pushing the tranny out, which can be overcome by a slight push from a friend, or the disk isn't quite lined up for a straight shot into the pilot bearing.
If you are only an inch out, then things are probably lined up...you probably just need to give it a good shove with a little twist...it should go in.

The input shaft is in the splines of the clutch disc, but not in the pilot bearing.
You may need to take it apart & re-align the disc to get the trans to 'fall' in.
What ever you do dont force it with bolts.

Both times that I have put my trans back in, it had went in perfect, new pressure plate and all. I dont think a new pressure plate should have any effect on how smooth the tranny goes in.
