Question Hard to move the shifter through the gears at all times ?

It is hard to move my shifter through the gears at ALL timeswhen the car is OFF or ON. Could this be due to needing a new clutch ? I can feel its slip a little bit but not to bad. It has always felt this was stiff, also when you move the shifter into each gear they all feel the same 1-6-R and you can feel it push into the slot really bad.
ANY HELP ????????????
Thanks nic

It isn't the clutch if it is hard to get into all gears with the engine off.

Look elsewhere in the trans. Could be bent shift rod or other linkage. Damaged of deformed shift rod bushing maybe.

I would think that this is a shifter problem, shifting without the clutch in and the engine off will have nothing to do with the clutch assembly. Take the shifter out and see if you have anything rubbing, under the rubber boot take the bolts on the plate off you may see something wrong with the pivot ball.

Did you try loosening the bolts that hold the shifter down and then shifting to see if it gets easier? The reason I mention it, is because I had the same problem on another car and the shifter ball was binding up when the plate was tightened down. Bought a new shifter and the problem was solved...
