Finally burn't a SPEC 5 clutch
We've installed 8 of these in the last year and finally burn't one down.
The car in question went through a few setup's on this clutch. It still holds until you really abuse it.
1st- 346 Procharged -620rwhp about 5k miles
2nd -346 with STS -700rwhp about 6k miles
3rd -408 T88 Turbo -820rwhp/790tq -600 miles
So it made it 11,600 miles of extreme abuse.
There are 2 other cars with over 20k miles on them and the clutch works just as good as the day we put them in.
These Stage 5's are simply awesome in my book
Time to install there new dual disk setup.

A friend and I just installed a SPEC 5 and McLeod scatter shield in my car.. The disk is just amazing to look at so beefy. My buddy is rebuilding my tranny so hopefully I'll be back on the road this weekend unless I need more tranny parts. FWIW I just removed a SPEC 2 that had been in 3 or 4 years and 30-40,000 miles. I beat the **** out of that clutch 3,500-4,000 dumps too many too count. This disk was virtually as new Kevlar. The pressure plate and flywheel had 3 or 4 hot spots on each which were probably responsible for my chatter. I will be happy if the SPEC 5 lasts anywhere near what the 2 did.

What does the clutch feel like? I've got a T76 with all the parts minus fuel/clutch/guages/little stuff ready to go on. Street car, few track trips. Any downsides to the aluminum flywheel?

I'm not a fan of the aluminum flywheels.Too light so you have to give more revs from the light and that can promote more chatter.
Peddle pressure is the same as stock,if not lighter.Engagement is tight and you have to get use to it.If you slip it wrong it will tell you. The life of the clutch surprises me.We only expected around 10k miles at most from it for what we put it through but it lasted alot longer.

When I brought my SPEC 5 to a machine shop here locally to be balanced on their Hines machine, the owner said it was out some but not too bad. He neutrally balanced the SPEC flywheel and then balanced the Pressure plate with it attached to the flywheel. What was interesting was he was telling me that many PP are almost impossible to balance since the mechanical parts inside the PP move and flop around. The SPEC he said was nice and tight.

I have been equally as happy with my spec stage 3+ so far....For a car thats driven on the street and in traffic and subjected to around 600rwhp I think this clutch is hard to beat...More time will certainly tell the situation, should it fail soon Ill give up a little street manners and get the stage 5....

The 3+ was my first choice because of what it could handle power wise and it's excellent street manners. However some of my friends convinced me that since my car is not a daily driver to go with the 5. I thought the 5 was more of an off/on clutch, my buddy's tell me it's very streetable. We'll see.
