Default Z06 clutch VS. Spec

Need a new clutch, and have a dilemma. I have about 1000 bucks and would like keep it under that limit. I was wandering what is the biggest bang for the buck. I have a 2000 Z28 with working ram air hood, pacesetter long tube headers, off road y-pipes to flow master exhaust. Slp lid, K & N filter and soon to upgrade maf sensor, hurst short stick, but riding on 20's. That is the extent of my mods. Have a daily driver and not racing much at all. I was looking at the Z06 clutch setup and flywheel, heard about spec stage 1 or 2 with fidanza aluminum flywheel. Any suggestions?

Ram Powergrip would be a good one, OEM is always good, LS6 setup would be good. I personally would avoid spec like the plague with all the grenades that have gone off.
I value my legs.

Will go a bit further with mods but mostly bolt ons. Until something breaks. What about a flywheel with that powergrip ram setup and are there any hydraulic mods needed?

Textralia Clutch Kit from Young.

I got mine and it kicks ***. It'll hold 700+ hp and feels like the stocker yet it grips like a mother when fully engauged. It's smooth as glass after a little break in and can be slipped and everything just like your stocker.

Textralia would be overkill for this dude.

Just get the Z06 setup(I think it's around $450 with a flywheel), and get a new master and slave cylinder, as well. That'll be more than enough for you and your mods.

Oh yeah, and don't **** with the MAF.

Actually found a new Z06 setup with the flywheel for $285 over ebay brand new so that seems like the best for the buck, thanks for the help.

Also why is a new master cylinder and a slave cylinder needed?

A new slave is a must(they completely changed the design in 2001), your master might still be okay.

Why not get the LS7 clutch kit?

Because $285 is cheaper than the LS7 kit and this dude doesn't even have full bolt-ons.

Well I dont think that the ZO6 clutch is the more bang for the buck either.

The Z06 clutch is a terrific clutch for his application and a lot of other people's applications. I know people who use a Z06 in a cam-only car and run low 12s. Z06 can be a great clutch, especially for the price...a clutch's life is dependant on whether the driver can actually drive.

Is the LS7 clutch better? Yes. Should he spend $315 more for the LS7 setup when all he has is bolt-ons? Absolutely not.
