Default SPEC 3 help please...Have a few questions....

Guys, I just had a new Spec 3 installed along with it's shim. I also went ahead & bought a new slave & master cylinder for it while I was there (I love income time). Everything seems fine, some chatter, but when I'm cruising in either 5th or 6th gear & I floor it, it slips a little bit as if it's not fully engaged ???.........Any ideas as to why it does this?......Any other gears it grabs very well but for some reason when I cruise at lets say, 55 mph & I'm either in 5th or 6th & floor it, it goes up slightly in RPM's then grabs......Can anyone you help me diagnose the problem ???......Any help would be greatly appreciated....

It might not be engaging fully during the break-in period as the wear surfaces are not fully contacting yet. I wouldn't test it this way until it's fully broken in. Make sure it's bled well and test it after the break-in.

the first 500 miles is very important with the SPEC 3, u gotta go really easy on the breakin, then it is an awesome clutch

So are you guys saying that I should test it using the 5th/6th gear 55 mph "punch it" method to see if it slips until after the 500 mile break-in period?......Any other recommendations?.....

I put my used Spec 3 in my SS when I got it and it slipped even though it worked fine in my Z28. It had about 7000 miles on it so it was broken in. I had to pull the tranny again to remove the slave shim and it fixed the problem. I'd wait until it was broken in before I did anything drastic.

why would you want to floor it doing 55 in 5/6th gear?thats too much load on the motor/tranny...rev the motor and drop gears like youre supposed to.But its very true about the breakin....i babied my spec 3 for at least 500 miles and it lasted 40000 miles of abuse thereafter and was till in good shape when we took it out
