00 t56 to 95 lt1 HELP!!!
Hello there i just purchased a t56 out of a 2000 trans am and i want to put it into my 95 trans am. I destroyed my old trans and wanted something better but i went to put it in and nothing works. I know someone out there knows what i need to put this all together . Any tips or advice would be awesome.

i think the release mechanisms are different also, like the slave cylinder setup, like my lt1 slave pushes the fork that pushes the throwout bearing towards the rear of the car to release the clutch, and if im not mistakes the ls1 style slave pushes the throwout beairng towards the motor to release it, i'm pretty sure the ls1 style t56's dont have the attachments to bolt up the lt1 style slave stuff

The input shaft,front tranny plate and bellhousing are different. You CAN swap those 3 parts and have a good tranny unless the old ones are bad. The clutch systems are in no way compatable either. You should have done some research on the LT1 and LS1 trannys. They are internaly the same. One offers no advantage over the other.Unless your car is a 93.

I know the McLeod bellhousing for an LS1 will also bolt to a small block chevy / LT1 (it has the bolt holes). That said, is there a push-style, one piece rear main clutch that has the pressure plate fingers at the right 'spot' to be able to use the LS1 hydraulics?
I thought about trying that on my 79Z (using LS1 hydraulics, McLeod bellhousing, LS1 T56, and looking to see if my one piece rear main clutch might work). But I may keep the mechanical linkage and just go with the McLeod adapter plate (a simpler solution for me).

You can convert th00 by swpping out :
Input gear( LS1 is too long for a LT1)
Front adapter
Bell(LT1 slightly different block pattern and shorter. Also hole for release fork)
You should be able to salvage the bell, fork and adapter from your old T56( unless you trashed it in un-godly ways). You will want to check the bearing shimming after a swap like this.
