Default HELP! snapped driveshaft = T56 mainshaft!!@##$

snapped driveshaft = PITA, well apparently when the driveshaft blew, it bent the mainshaft that the driveshaft slides over. its bent about .010" and causing the driveshaft seal to get all stretched out of shape and leak insanely What do I DO!!!!!! how much is this part. I will most likely have to rebuild the T56 AGAIN it broke at 14,500 and at 30,500 the driveshaft sheared itself into two peices and bent the tranny shaft.

You will certainly want to replace the shaft (at least). I suspect the rear bushing is toast and you may find a broken extension housing. Also look at the bell to block for casting fracture.

Nasty. Best bet is to either sell it as a parts tranny and get a new one, or buy a parts tranny and build 1 from the 2 (that's what we did on a buddy's trans... he snapped his mainshaft and destroyed his tailhousing, so he bought a $300 "transmission in a box" and we put 1 good one together).

Naah, I bet LS1Joe (at http://www.t56rebuilds.com ) could get them. I see them on ebay right now for under $300.

Though, I have one on my shelf, I'd part with for $700 shipped, wrapped with a bow!
