Well when your going up hill or then putting a "load" on the engine, meaning being in a bigger gear than you should and the engine revs up but the speed stays the same... (as chpmnsws6 said). Also, noticed yesterday when doing a hard launch instead of my tires spinning the clutch would slip, it drives fine in normal traffic but now I need to order one.

Is there a HP/TQ point where you should start to upgrade your clutch? Just wondering on when it might be time to get the ls7 clutch. So far I dont think mine is slipping, but I do pretty weak launches.. to keep grip[

I need to replace my clutch. Mine is sticking to the floor when I engage it. Most of the time I can pop the clutch back by slipping my foot under the clutch but I am having to do that more and more. I took it in for an oil change and to change the manuel transmission fluid that they said to was the pressure plate was sticking. They also said it could be the master cylinder.

just because your pedals sticking down doesnt mean the clutch is bad necessarily though, that could be due to the hydraulics going bad too.

What about when the car is in gear and it slips under high load IE highway at 70. My ss recently started where when im traveling at about 70 MPH and punch it, the car doesnt lurch the rpms climb rapidly then fall back as if its slipping. I'm kind of new to manuals so I'm trying to figure this out, I didnt think it could possibly be the clutch because its already in gear? any help would be appreciated

EDIT: I'm going to start a new post for this one as searching didnt come up with any results

I think mine is slipping, although not really sure. when I bought the car it had 46k miles on it, and the stock clutch (now i'm at 53k). I used to chirp the tires all the way up to the 3-4 shift. Now I can't even get a chirp in the 2-3 shift...plus I find that sometimes the clutch is catching at different spots when I shift gears, if that makes any sense.

Yup. It depends really. My stock clutch was perfect though, and I installed heads/cam and now it doesn't slip, but sticks to the floor. I know my hyrdraulics are good, so in my case its a new clutch - my friends case was teh opposite. Had the same symptoms it was his master cylinder.

Another related problem is if your car stsrts getting hard to shift into gear. My '99 Z28 got to the point where I had to shut it off to get it into reverse. 1st gear was also hard to engage. This started happening after the clutch smoked really bad after getting on it in 3rd gear at 40 mph. Bob

My clutch is ok until i get on it real hard or drive it alot and get it good and hot and it just doesnt grip like it used to. I shifted second gear hard the other day and it boged the engine down the clutch slipped so bad.
