Default Why is my shifter dancing up and down like a ****?

2001 trans am M6 with short shifter. Replaced trans mount with new stock rubber mount a few months back. I've been noticing that in especially 4th and 5th gear the shifter bobs up and down pretty excessively. Think the mount wasn't torqued correctly? I can't see how I would have broken the mount already. Thoughts?

Well to me it sounds like its more than likely mount related... I just swapped out mine for a poly mount and my shifter is pretty solid now. I'd probably take a look at that. But im no mechanic. :-P

yeah, a torn trans mount will do that, but if you dont think you broke it again i would look into a poly mount, the durometer is higher on a polymount and should eliminate the excessive movement

its pretty excessive as it like to bounce up and down all day while driving but whats funny is that its only in fourth or fifth gear. Thanks for the feedback. Anybody else have a dancing shifter?

*Had* a dancing shifter until I did a poly tranny mount in addition to my poly motor mounts...it doesn't do it anymore.

do a poly mount..

It will suck at first, but it will loosen up and soften a bit.

Thanks for props on the title, i'm learning the more creative the title the more people will read I've tried a poly in the past (here's another joke for you all) vibrated like a fat girl having a seizure waiting in line for a double cheeseburger...
