how to take apart T56?

Default how to take apart T56?

hey guys, ive got a T56 from a 99Z sitting in my room here but ive never had one apart before. how do i go about this? i took out some of the bolts near the end shaft but cant slide that whole part off because of the shift rod. how do i get the rod out of the way? thanks!

barnes and noble sells an entire book with pictures on the disassembly and rebuilding of a manual transmission. $19.50 buy it

Pretty easy. Just a bunch of snap rings and gears. Gonna need a press and a nice bearing tool for the press. Pulling 6th gear is the hardest part (puller w/LONG arms - I made my own). It is easy to chip the edge of the gear - if you do, don't worry about it, unless the chip is in the middle, you will never feel it

amen to all of that, I too made a handy little puller.
BTW the shfter socket is held in by a roll pin, You can drive it down and then slide the shifter socket off

Complex in appearance, but easy as long as you keep stuff in order. A blown apart picture is always a plus.
