Default best shifter for 2/3 shift... pro 5.0???

i went to the track last night and i missed third like 3 out of the 5 times i ran. i finaly got a good one and ran a 13.2. anyways i want to know what the best shifter is for the 2/3 shift. i dont really care about notchyness or noise. ive heard good and bad things about the pro 5.0 but just want some opinions on the 2/3 shift aspect of their shifter. any info would be great thanks

When you say you missed 3rd. Were you hitting 5th or 1st? Or did you somehow just not make contact w/ any gear and in neutral.

I would get a short stick, I just ordered the WS6 short stick yesterday.

Some people perfer the UMI because it angles towards you, but they complain about hitting their elbow on the console when shifting into 2nd.

Either way, those short sticks don't have the rubber bumper on them, so it's just metal to metal. That way, you know when you are in gear and you know when you aren't; there is no gray area like with the stock stick.

I dont understand how people can think they are in gear when they are not. There is an noticble knotch when you are in.

I got the hurst billet plus and it'd be pretty hard to miss the 2-3 shift. You just push the shifter forward and the spring tention pulls the shifter over into "3".

My vote goes to the Pro 5.0 with a short stick

I have been more than happy with my stock Hurst/UMI short stick combo. Alot of missed shifts have to do with hand placement and technique. For the 2-3 shift, I let the shifter rest in the palm of my hand, or the ball of my hand rather, don't grip it, and push straight forward, it will go right in. The stock shifter as already mentioned is not worth .02 compared to a good short stick.

I have Pro 5.0 and had it shorten and never miss the 2 to 3 shift any more. I had a stock shifter with Lou Short stick and missed all time, but I'm not the greatest either.

With a base stock shifter when you're banging gears while racing it's easy to hit the no mans land between 3rd and 5th and have it stick. I've done it several times when you think you're in gear and it just hangs there. It's easier than you think. Since I put my Billet Plus Hurst in that problem no longer happens as it always goes into a gear whether it be 3rd or 5th if you go too far over. I haven't raced yet with the Hurst but on the street hard shifting it's great so far.

could it also be hydraulics not letting him get into gear?

It's not hydraulics on my car. There was a destinct "no mans land" spot between 3rd and 5th on the shifter itself. It's gone now that I replaced it with a Hurst billet plus.
