Default Center Force DF question???

Hey guys I just bought a Centerforce DF clutch and Centerforce flywheel. On the box it said to replace the slave cylinder and I was talking to alot of my freinds that did it and they did not out a new on in. I had a new throwout bearing installed the clutch and the flywheel. I only have 45k on the clock. Do you think it will be a problem if i don't replace the slave. Money is a huge issue right now. I bought the ls7 clutch and it was junk by the time ups dropped it off I waited 10 days and the pressure plate had so many dings in it. I heard that they are "peices of sh*t" and people are blowing them apart with only 3k miles and 450h.p. from the company I bought it from. So from what i heard the Centerforce Dual friction is bomb proof. I'll get some carnage pics of my stock clutch up when I pick it up from the shop. Thanks in advance!

Well, I have no personal experience, but from what I've heard the ls7 clutch will hold hold up pretty decently to 450hp since its the stock peice behind a 505hp motor and the centerforce clutch is crap. That's just what I've heard though. If you have a 2000 or earlier f-body you should change out the slave to the newer one.

The 12" DF is supposed to be a lot better than the 11" that they come in...It holds almost 200 ft lbs of tq more than the other one....Keep us updated..I'm going to be putting a new slave cylinder on mine but I have a couple more miles than you...

it never fails.....every time someone asks about a centerforce df clutch someone comes on and talks about how shitty they are. But what everyone should know is this is not the sam old 11" design that centerforce used to use. If you got the 12" DF you will be happy with your choice. And on top of that centerforce's customer service is the best. Do a search on centerforce DF and i promise you wont find one problem that didn't get resolved peacefully! Hell 99% of the time when someone bitches about their new centerforce DF clutch going out it ends up being installer error or a hydraulic problem. NOT THE CLUTCH! you will be happy with your choice.

Now i do agree that if your car is a 2000 or earlier you should update your hydraulics to a 2001-2002 system. Good luck!

Clutch companies tell you to change out the slave so they will get less calls of people with clutch issues, false clutch issues. A high mileage slave is more prone to go out when an aftermarket clutch with a more stout PP. I personally wouldn't change it but that is just me.
I have issues with my CF DF 12" but it isn't the clutch exactly, or is it? Just depends on how you look at it. The weights on the fingers apply more pressure to the plate at high rpms, it is also more difficult to release at these rpms. The fluid can bypass the seals in the master cyl or slave when under the extra load. Mine will not shift above 5500rpm and when I let out @6500 and grab the clutch it won't release and I have to pull/push it out of gear. Does it slip? No. I have a truck master cyl so that may be where my issues lie but some people here are experiencing the same issues with an Fbody. If you have the same issues i'd put a Mcleod master on it and that should solve the problem.

I just installed a CDF and put a new 01-02 slave in as well. The 01-02 slaves are an upgraded improvement, I'd buy one if you don't have one already.

Where can you get the 12''?

Only DF I see listed for these cars are 11'' Diameter Pressure Plate and 1-1/8'' x 26 Spline Disc.

I found the P/N is DF395010 from Centerforce, do you have to buy it directly from them?

yeah.. its great when you 1st use it.. like i said.. wait till you get past 10k in mileage or so.. those stupid weights.... they kept making my trans pop out of gear.. sent it in to T56rebuilds(who originally did the rebuild 2 months ago) to have it checked out and make sure it was not the trans... it wasnt..its the clutch

(im using an 02 slave, 04 master)

Call up T56rebuilds, speak with Amber or Joe about Center Force clutches and the problems they have had lately.
