Default Having a serious tranny problem..HELP!

Ever since I installed my short throw i have had nothing but problems. First off who ever had the car before me broke the head off one of the bolts for the shifter so i can only install three out of four bolts. So in the past i had to use a gasket maker to seal it, but did not do so this time.

The other night I took it for a WOT run and going to third my clutch pedal stuck alil past halfway resulting in burning up my clutch momentarily, and had to pump it vigorously to get back to drivability. This morning i moved my car and the clutch felt extremely rough, i look under the car and there is a HUGE puddle of red transmission fluid. The only thing i can thing of it that it built up pressure and leaked out of wear the shifter base is. Where else would auto tranny fluid leak out of, and sometimes it would kick me out of gear, probably because the tranny couldnt build enough pressure to keep me in gear or enough to enter sometimes.

Your thoughts please ASAP.

Thanks
Travis

Yes, you can. Transmission fluid can come out from the rear of the transmission, and from up top around the shifter. I would go back, re-seal the shifter on the tranny. Clean up the transmission, go for a drive, and if it leaks again, you should be able to see where is is coming from.

ok i drained the fluid and it had plenty turns out it was my moms car with the leak, so I went ahead and poured in 3 qts of auto fluid and resealed the shifter, and everything.

I still have no idea why it stuck to the floor like that....im talking about the clutch...

Clutch stuck on the floor is a clutch slave/master, or pressure plate problem.
Manual transmissions don't have a pump for oil. You should buy an extractor kit and remove that bolt or have a mechanic do it for you. When you're ripping through gears, you don't want that shifter to come off. Had that happen to me at the strip once. Didn't put any lock tight on the shifter. Luckly, I found the bolts as the strip was pretty well lit and I had some friends with flash lights helping me hunt them down.
A dude from an import shop helped me get it back together with his tools. Put RTV silicone on the bolts and he swore it works just like lock tight.
When you go to torque them base plate bolts down, remember it's a 5/16 bolt. Won't take a whole lot of torque to snap them off. Look up the specs, but I'm pretty sure it's like 28 ft/lbs or less.

my car does that when i do a WOT run, starts to lose pressure and not return when i shift into 3rd gear. The tranny is stock with a hurst shifter. What should I check first?

Sorry to hijack the thread, i just didn't want to start a new one.

i dunno myabe you just need to bleed your system. Thats what I eventually plan on doing and flushing it out with DOT4 fluid cause it can withstand a higher temperature tan dot3 and thats a BIG plus especially with longtubes, i think it might be pricey tho im not sure.

If it sounds like it's a slipping clutch to me. Had a friend that was running a T/A at the track and when he hit fourth the engine reved up but the car nosed over. Shoulda been a 10.9 or quicker, but crossed the traps at an 11.00.

This is a shot in the dark, but the maybe you might try bleeding your clutch, and making sure you dont have any holes in the hyd lines between your master and slave??? If you've got a busted bolt, but you dont see any leakage coming from there, I wouldnt suspect that.. but I would look into the hyd system on your clutch.. has alittle to do with pedal pressure.. just my 2 cents

the whole only happening after wot runs sounds like clutch fade... stock clutchs do that when they get beat bad... when i brought my car to the track when it was bone stock i thought somethin fucked up with my hydraulics after my first runs, turns out it was just that. let the car sit for 15 and it worked again perfect
