Default which clutch should I use?

I won't take the car to the track much. Maybe once every other month.

My significant mods are the LS6 port/polish heads & tb, comp cam, and long tubes. So I guess something that'll hold up close around 400hp.

I really can't spend over $700 on a clutch right now and the one I have is just trashed. By the way, I'm running a stock 10 bolt and hopefully before spring I will upgrade, again, to a 9" or 12 bolt.

or should I save up to $1000 and get a OZ700?

I have the lS7/LS2 combo.. I love it! Drives like stock but doesnt slip at all, even at the track with 400+ to the wheels.

LS7 is a great clutch for the money, although the assembly is kinda heavy. I have the Textralia OZ700, and really like it so far.

I have heard great things about the LS7, but how is it holding up to DR launches? I mean, ripping around on the street is one thing, but sidestepping outta the hole at 3,000 rpm is different, and I havent heard a single person track this clutch yet. Anyone?

Also, whats the LS7/2 combo going for now?

I'm not sure about launching the LS7. I think I seen a thread somewhere back that talked about it. Maybe try searching "LS7" in the manual transmission forum. As far as how much it goes for, I believe I remember seeing them around $400-$700 range. The flywheel I think was like between $200-$300 and the clutch was around $300 I think. Maybe try looking through Fred Beans or GMpartsdirect

I just replaced my Spec 3 after 3 years with an LS7 thanks to the slave cylinder putting a fresh coat of brake fluid on the cluth and flywheel. The LS7 is a good smooth clutch with a lot of holding power. the Spec 3 chattered like crazy even with sixty some thousand miles on it. I would say go with the Ls7/LS2 setup and most importantly if you're going to have the whole thing apart anyway, make sure you replace the slave cylinder, that way you don't risk waxing a brand new clutch.
