Default spec 3 vs spec 4

for those of you who have driven them, how "streetable" would you consider the spec 4 to be, i see on sites that it is not recommended for street use, yet i hear a lot of people tell me they use it on the street just fine. and if anyone has the spec 3 or 3+ how do you like it? and how streetable also.

Well, they dont have springs in the hub and thats what makes them a pain in the *** on the street. I personally was gonna go that route till they told me that they chatter would never go away simply because it doesnt have springs in the hub. Thats why I got the stage 3+.

My SPEC 3+ with billet flywheel and Mcleod master is very streetable after you put a few hundred miles on it. It takes a bit to get used to at first before it gets broke in, but once its broken in its really nice. Now I just hope it can hold up to what i have in store for it.

There are a few people that use the 3+ and are running over 700Hp and it has held up.

I am happy with it. I would go for a 3+ if you are using the car on the strreet often.

The Stage 3 will hold 750 ft lbs of torqure whereas the 3+ will hold 850. Other than the springs in the hub, there isnt much difference in the 3+ and 4. Both have the same pressure plate pressure and are made of the same material if im not mistaken.

Clarification: Stage 3+ uses a full-face CSM disc and our stage 5 pressure-plate whereas stage 4 uses a 6-puck CSM disc and our standard pressure-plate. They are quite different in feel and capacity. 3+ is sprung and 4 is not (as mentioned). If you are looking for the most streetable option that will hold big power than 3+ is the way to go. If you want the lightest possible options with less concern for drivability then a 4 is great.

As for the feel of the 4, it is more on and off and thus less forgiving. Some folks love it, but it is an aquired taste. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks,

I have had both and I liked the Spec 4 F option. I hate to say but Spec has never been able to hold my Turbo car. I had a Spec 3 with my stock motor and GT67 turbo. I currently have a Spec 4F with my 408 with my GT 76 and it starts slipping and sqweeling at about 4800 rpms where we made 610hp 670 torque. Here is the Dyno graph if you want to take a look.

I am currenlty thinking of going with the Mcleod Twin. I have heard the new Ram was built for street turbo cars so I am looking into that also.

Kane, our stage 3F and 4F models are regularly used on cars making well over their advertised rating. That being said, it is interesting to see you have an issue of slippage with the torque level your vehicle produces (not too shabby by the way). I am curious about the mileage on this unit and the flywheel used...let me know. Thanks,

The 4F in the car now was brand new with new flywheel from Spec. I have about 4k miles on it. We have no clue what the actual HP is hitting the flywheel so that maybe over powering the clutch and 610 670 is what it put down at 4800 rpms.
