Default T56 MAX hp/tq

What's the max amount of punishment a high dollar "built" T56 can take? I do not want a G.D. automatic. Is there a clutch and transmission that will take the overkill I'm building? 454/101mm turbo.

Talk to Amber at Six Speeds Inc., they will be able to build you a pretty stout transmission. It doesnt take much money to build a strong t56, just have to know what parts to make stronger

Good place to start would be:

Steel 3/4 shift fork
Carbon Fiber Blocker rings
Billet Slider keys for 3/4 synchro

As for clutches, I have heard great things about the Textralias.

You could go to a Top shelf G-Force or Talk with Joe (Ls1Joe) from T56rebuilds.com who is a sponsor on this board and he can set you up with what you need, I would go to him before G-Force. He might even be cheaper

Wait are you talking about a 454 with a turbo or one or the other? A 454 with a turbo will definitely need upgraded gears and input/mainshaft.

Not knowing anything about tranny's, is this something that can easily be installed when doing a clutch swap?

Well I cannot answer this from experience because I have yet to rip my transmission apart yet but I will be soon. But you could do this it will just take a lot more time than your normal clutch swap. My advice would be to download the t56 manual on the tremec website and study it. Then decide if you want to do it yourself or not.

Give us a call at the shop. Joe and I are headed for our first NMCA race this weekend but will be returning calls during the day while at test and tune.

Thanks,
