Default LS7 Clutch Review

I got my LS7 clutch/pp setup from SPDC. They didn't have the flywheel in stock so I purchased one used for $50 on LS1Tech from VALVEGOD and got it resurfaced for $30 bucks at a local shop. SPDC was great to deal with and thanks alot to valvegod for the clutch!

A little info on my car... It is a 98 Z28 put down 345RWHP with bolt ons and has a 100 shot. My car previously had a Sepc Stage 3+ in it. My first impression of the LS7 was how light it was compared to the Spec. The LS7 feels like you can rest your foot on it and it will go down compared to the Spec. Next, this clutch engages very low. People say that spacers will make the engagement higher but I prefer mine to be low. Also, it is supposed to raise up slightly after break in.

The engagement is very smooth. It is much more progressive then the on off feel of the Spec. There is no chatter what so ever. I hated the chatter on the Spec so this was a huge plus.

I love this clutch and would suggest it over the Spec ANYDAY so long as your car is the right power level for it. I can not think of a single thing not to like about it. Anybody that is on the fence about getting it, don't think twice because this is the ultimate street clutch for 400-450RWHP cars!

I went from stock to GM HD truck (long story) to Centerforce to LS7... after all that. The LS7 has been the best by a long shot. None of the other compared. No chatter... light, light pedal... mine engages a little higher since I used a 1/8" spacer behind the slave. I highly recommend... but keep in mind, I'd be lucky to be putting down 300hp at the wheels.

I had my LS7 clutch broke in about two days by beating the hell out of it. I didn't use a spacer but now it engages like normal

How would this clutch do with 430-460 RWHP?

I have an ls7 setup in mine. I have about 200 miles on it and feels great. Well a lot better than my spec and alot cheaper. I am putting down about 450-470 to the wheels on motor and am gonna see how this thing reacts to spray. I highly recommend it.

Another great review for the LS7 clutch. Within about 20 miles it felt like stock. About 160 miles later and two WOT blasts (with absolutely no pedal fade) and I am very happy with my purchase. I like this thing

I'm still under 400rwhp, so I doubt I'm stressing the LS7 clutch at all. After the heads and cam go in, I'm thinking strange 9 inch + driveshaft then worry about the clutch again as the weak point.

As for the feel of it goes, I'd have two versions to my engagement point.

01-02 slave with 98 master
engagement point started very low, after being broke in, the release point started around the 40% mark. Felt like stock.

01-02 slave with 01-02 master + drill mod
engagement point moved well up. the release now feels like it's around the 70% mark. Still feels like stock.

Another thing I've noticed is that it's STILL changing it's feel even after 10000 miles on it. I could swear that it's feeling almost like the Z06's light pedal feel now. The release is still good too, when off pressing that in and slipping off the pedal, you hear a nice bang from the amount of movement the pressure plate's getting. The 98 master didn't seem to move the LS7 clutch a lot.

Anyone else's clutch messing with their head? err foot
