its your coolant temperature fluctuating.

Dude, give us a little more info.

What gear, how much pedal pressure (% wise) how long has the clutch been in, etc.\\

No, but if it's hot it will affect power. As far as the sounds go, did you have a locker intalled? I had a detroit locker and it was way noisy. % pressure he was refering too was % on the throttle, IE how much were you on the gas? I doubt the clutch is slipping at that speed but if it wasn't broke in properly then it's a possibility. If your coolant sensor is still on and it's full to the lid, the sensor must be bad.

well, I would say in 3rd gear there would be enough load on the engine. It does sound like the clutch may be at fault but I definately wouldn't blame it yet. How old is the slave cylinder? 98's usually have issues with failure and the newer slave is a must for a new clutch. I'm still thinking what would make the noise or slippage other than worn parts.

It might be that you're making nice topend power. What is your revlimiter at?

Sounds like your clutch is slipping a bit, do this... stick it in 5th gear at like 35-40 mph and stand in the gas and see what happens. If its not slipping it should hold and RPMS should come up REALLY slow... if it slips your RPM's should jump fast.
