Installing SPEC clutch - need some advice
It's the first time I'm changing clutch on LS1, and have some questions...
1) should I install 3-4mm plate that came with the kit? My flywheel had some 1.5mm taken off
2) throwout bearing (if this IS throwout bearing) is not concentric at all - you can see it in the picture very well. Is this OK?
3) do I have to change pilot bearing? Seems like it would be not very easy...
My clutch last was changed 15K ago according to previous owner.
Please give your advices

a cheaper way to do that is to take a wet paper towel cram it in the hole and use a rod that fits snug in the hole and hit it with a hammer and continue to stuff wet paper towels in until it pushes. the hydralic action is what pushes out the bearing. its an old school trick.

Do not dare try this trick on an LS1, the freeze plug in the back of the crank will come off and go inot the motor which will result in you tearing motor parts off to get the freeze plug out. Its not like an old school motor.

That is actually a lot to take out of a stock flywheel. The flywheel is actually pretty thin to begin with. That being said, definitely install the shim. As a side note, it may be worthwild to get an extra shim just in case. For instance, if the pedal is low with the shim in, it is because so much has been taking out of the flywheel. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!!!

Thank you. Will install this 3mm shim.
I must say this whole thing is extremely stupid. Why couldn't they make external slave cylinder? No mess with trying different shims (and removing tranny to do that), heating fluid, crazy bleeding procedure, no need to take off tranny to change cylinder. Why all that mess??? Hate GM for that. Looks like they did it to make some good money at dealerships.

With the new clutch, feels like it engages ~halfway from the floor. But when the car is standing so it needs only slight force to start moving, I can see that the car starts moving slowly 2-3cm from the floor. I have about 120 city miles on it by now.
Does this seem to be correct?
