Default Heel-toeing?

Alright guys, I did a search. I went for a cruise with some buddies a few days ago, and I gotta say, not being able to heel-toe is really annoying. Having to take my foot off the brake to hit the gas and rev match is really a pain and kinda defeats the purpose of downshifting. The problem is obviously that the gas pedal is too low and I cant put my foot on both pedals at the same time. Has anyone done any modification to there pedals to make them even? Any write-ups? pics? Thanks

Well I only where a size nine shoe, so i would be able to do it if the pedals were even. Thanks for that link, I might try to do something like that.

i do a toe-toe thing. it works for me.

just hang your foot on the edge of the brake and hit the gas with your toe while still on the brake. it may be weird to get used to.

I wear size 12 and I heel toe easily. I actually use the sides of my feet, not the heel or toe. I also find it easier bare-foot that with shoes. But I always drive bare-foot.

Well the problem is that my pedals are not even, horizontally. the gas pedal is lower(further away from me) than the brake pedal. I would have to really be slamming on the brakes to make the brake pedal even with the gas pedal.
I need to raise the gas pedal up, closer to me, so that when I have my foot on the brake, I can twist my foot and tap the gas. From the pics I saw in that one link someone posted, it looks like my pedals are different. Are the pedals different on a trans am and camaro?

Mines the same way. I can't heel and toe either or use the sides of my foot because my gas pedal is so far back. I would love to figure out a way to raise it up some.

Just that plastic pedal plate is all I have seen. I know of a road racing Camaro around here with one of those (or something similar) on it. Seen it a few times. The plate was thick enough to keep the pedals even and shrunk the gap between the gas and brake.

Other than that, you just really have to twist your foot to hit both. I can do it, but it is a contortion act.

I agree it would be easier if the gas pedal was up further but its not. I made a simple mod that works good and took all of 3 seconds to do: I bent the gas pedal over toward the brake. Not a traditional heal toe, as mentioned above but works really well for our narrow foot wells.

when i do it, for street driving i just take my foot off the break and blip the throttle. no biggie,

i can heel-toe but only under hard breaking, like if im flying into corner, basically hammer on the breaks so the pedals are closer, i use my heel to middle of foot area for the break, and kinda kick the gas with my toe to bring up the rpm's.

this way has been working for me, but like i said, you really gotta be under hard breaking, its good for the track, but for normal street driving it doesnt work.

just lift your foot off the break and hit the throttle for street driving, you still get noticed and save your clutch. your not racing on a road course all the time, so who cares.

1... go under the dash and stick a zip tie or two on the gas pedal cable... it acts like a spacer and raises it up... a tad.

2.. you cant really heel-toe.. but you can use the side of your foot.. thats how i do it. the ball of my foot is on the brake, the outside edge of my foot is on the gas.

You guys need to try a heel-toe downshift barefoot! It's awesome! lol, really easy to do. Unfortunately not too comfortable in the winter time... I actually wore closed-toe shoes to school today and even size 11s make driving period a pain if you ask me.
