Know anyone who could make me a custom shifter handle for an f-body T56??
I'm looking everywhere for someone to make this for me. No luck thus far.
I wanted a nice plain shift **** for my car and ordered a fatknob from fatknobs.com, here's the problem...it's threaded for C5 Corvette's and not F-bodies. They never made an F-car version of the ****. I realize this seems stupid and too much trouble to go through for a shift ****, but it's a comfort thing and a uniqeness that I'm going for. I wanted a **** that's non-metal and no shift pattern. I didn't want to be fooling with stop nuts or set screws, I just want to thread it on and leave it. I also wanted a white ****. Fat **** doesn't sell them anymore, but I contacted them and they had 1 single **** left, so I got it.
I figured I could find someone and get a shift handle made up. I basically want one exactly like the WS6 store sells but threaded to a C5 thread size. I contacted them and they got back to me quickly, but unfortunately they weren't able to help me out.
Anyone know someone who'd be willing and capable of this?? I'd be in your debt BIG TIME if someone could help me out here!!
Shoot me a PM or e-mail. Thanks in advance everyone!

couple years ago i machined some shift sticks for a few people.
i machined it so there was a choice in length.
here is a comparison of the one i made (middle) to the lou's stick on the left and stock stick on the right.
i could easily machine you one to your specs....but i won't be able to do it untill Christmas time....since i wont' be home till then and that's where the lathe and mill are.
let me know
i can do whatever lenght and thread you want.

UPDATE...
i got the shift lever all machined up. the OP wanted something a bit longer than the LSS, so i machined it to be 7" long, same length as the stick in the middle of the 3 in the picture above.
i machined it with only 2 mounting holes, which will mate up with the stock shifter in the z28 (and i think for the T5 in the v6 models) and also to the hurst upgraded shifter in the SS/ws6 models (NOT the hurst aftermarket unit).
stick is machined with the 9/16-18 thread that is needed for the c5 style ****.
i'll be getting pics on sunday when i'm back on high-speed internet...dialup for the holidays SUCKS.
if this is something sought after...PM me...i can get more made pretty easily
stainless steel construction, fully lathe/mill machined, you can customize the lenght and thread, and if you give me accurate enough measurements...bolt pattern for the base (to mount to other shifters...but i don't have one to take measurements off of)
edit:
i also machined this one with enough "leeway" on the threaded end to allow the stick to be re-machined. there is enough length to allow the 9/16-18 thread to be cut off...and the 16mm-1.5 thread to be put on the end...all that is needed is a thread die. i can do it real easy...as can most machine shops.
in case you change your mind later.

thanks guys....wan't a big deal.
here's the final product.
you can see the thicker part directly behind the threads, which is 16mm. that way you can remove the current threaded end, and machine the 16mm-1.5 pattern if you want. the 16mm is wider than the 9/16.
my biggest concern...since i didnt have the **** to measure...is if the threads are long enough to allow the **** to bottom out. cause you need that if the **** needs to be positioned a specific direction.

Looks great to me! And the beautiful part is the **** i bought is plain white, no pattern to worry about lining up(i bought it for that reason). Wherever it bottoms out it stays.

my pleasure guys....gave me something to do while home for vacation.
and as i said....i can have more of these made to your specifications.
will take a bit more time, since i won't be the one making them. my father owns the machine shop and does odd jobs now that he's retired.
someone PMed me asking about having the handles "bent". this is possible, but would require cutting the handle and welding it. not a huge deal, but it would discolor the stick. i may try this the next time i get home and make one. just for ***** and giggles

If you have access to a torch and a vice you could also heat it where you want the bend and use a long piece of pipe to gently tweak it to where you want it.
This is what I plan on doing if I decide I want the bend.

teke - I'd be interested as well, for my Pro 5.0 shifter.. I can get you accurate measurements for the hole spacing/diameter as well.
I'm in the same boat with Lou's stick being a little too short. I can take care of bending it though...a little MAPP gas and a cheater bar goes a long way
Oh, mine would be for the Metric thread, as I have the Hurst leather shifter handle and like it.
I'll try unscrewing the **** to find out how long would be perfect...
My damn sleeve keeps flipping open the ashtray!
