Six Speeds Inc.
Hey guys, I justed signed up here & am looking for some advice/info on transmissions. I have an 03 Cobra & the tranny has been giving me fits lately. I had it fixed twice already & now I'm tired of dealing wiith it. I wanna ditch the clunky stocker & go ahead with a built tranny.
I was looking around & someone mentioned Six Speeds Inc. but I couldn't find much info on the Stang forums. I've heard some good things about RPM but it looks like SSI offers a very similar set up for much less $$$.
I assume I'd need the 4+ setup. Right now I'm at about 620rwhp. My current tranny has the Lethal TOB sleeve and a 26 spline input shaft. This is a weekend car with moderate track duty.
I'm just looking for some feedback from anyone with any experience with this setup. How does it shift? Durability? Noise? Am I correct that it's $2250 & I keep my current tranny? Right now I'm leaning this way just from browsing here, but I wanna make sure. I want this to be my last tranny R&R.
Thanks!

I didn't call them since I'm not ready to buy right this minute. I'll just call them when I'm ready to take the plunge.

Yeah, that's why I came here. I couldn't find anybody who had one on the Mustang forums so I figured this would be the best place for info since they're a vendor here & more people would have them.

They are the best from what I have seen over many years of fallowing this stuff. I have had a lot of Corvette owning friends get RPM transmissions, the Automatics seem to be alright, but manual guys never seem to be happy.
Joe and Amber are the way to go.

No need to wait till you are ready to take the plunge. Call Amber on Monday, she is very helpfull and will get you squared away. Then when you are ready, you'll know what you need and you can call them and say "go". Guess how I know this??? I can't wait for my 4+ to get here in the spring...

Shut the **** up.
There are plenty of '03/'04 Cobra owners here. Along with plenty of other high horsepower NON LSX owners on LS1tech.
SSI just happends to be a sponsor here. So it looks like he's stumbled upon the perfect place to learn some info on these guys.
They've done TONS of rebuilds for a lot of guys on tech, with very high praise.
Lloyd, looks like you've got the number to call. You can do a search here and find lots of info on them. I wouldn't hesitate to go ahead and pull the trigger when ready.

Cool, thanks guys. Only reason I say I'll wait to call is that I'm afraid I'll just be like "To hell with it, I'll go ahead & order it now."
I kinda told the wifey I'd wait till the first of the year. But you know what they say, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission.

I've also heard good things about them.
My credo is the ask forgiveness rather than permission. LOL Welsome to LS1Tech and the Ford haters should STFU and welcome a fellow gearhead rather than bash him. Not saying I don't indulge in some friendly smack talking once in a while.

Well I ordered my new tranny yesterday. You guys were right, Amber is great to deal with. She answered all my questions & then some. Very pleased so far, I can see why they have so many loyal customers here.
Looking forward to getting it installed & getting back on the street. Gotta keep all these LSX's in check.
