Default need t-56 for my camaro... 600 hp 600 tq can i keep the six speed?

I really really wanna do a manual trans but would like to here everyones opinion.. I am building an lsx and am caught between a 6 speed or an auto... how much am i looking at spending with a manual and an auto to hold that kind of torque and power? I would like it to be a nice day weekend driver and take a few trips down to the track... HELP ME?!?

$1950 for just the transmission is a rough guess on a 6 speed and about the same on an auto. A good built 6-speed will hold 700rwhp/700rwtq.

Thanks,
Amber

A stock T56 should be able to handle it but its better to buy an upgraded one . I'd look around for a core with bellhousing and shifter and get it built . It could be a little cheaper that route .

600-700hp is no problem for a 6 speed. We run a 6 speed in our 860rwhp car with no problems(3yrs).

t-56s are pretty solid, put the money into a clutch and its numerous replacements

ok I like what I am hearing! thanks tons... I just got my stock t56 rebuilt with stronger forks and keys and i broke it again :-( and it is just a 99 ss with bolt-ons... however I am fairly sure it is just out of my plain stupitity considering I didn't spend the $150 and get a pro 5.0 shifter... I am ready to build a 454 lsx and should easily get 600 whp and torque and are you all sure a t56 will be fine for those kind of NA numbers if so I am basically ready to purchase a tranny i have a core to trade... Let me know if where you recommend and which kit... thank you all!

what kind of times do you think i would put down at the track with 550 whp and torque through a t56? low 10s? I am going to do a mild cam and big stroke to keep it streetable...

Does anyone know anything about those T6060s that are going in the new ZR1 and Viper ACR? You might be able to do something like that, since the LS9 in the ZR1 is essentially an LS3 block, and the LS3 Corvettes have the T56...

Don't quote me on cost but last I looked a TR6060 was like $4500 or so new and there are no used ones out there. It is a very nice unit. We got our first here wednesday
