Thumbs down t56 main case

ok im in the process of rebuilding my tansmission...and ive ran into another problem... when i try to put the main case back on...the cluster shaft and the mainshaft wont line up into the bearing races in the main case. what would keep them from fitting? is it from too big of a shim in the front plate? and is there an easy/easier way to pull the bearing races out of the front plate? and also i've got an extra main case if anyone is interested...hit me up with a pm if you are. thanks

im completely stumped on this one! im positive the gears are all right. everything looks perfect but when i go to put the case on the bearings arent fitting in the main case races! and the last gear on the mainshaft dont line up right with the cluster...its like MAYBE one of the gears are wrong...but i have checked checkedc again and double checked my double checkings! it just doesnt fit!

If you changed a drive gear, you probably put the wrong ratio on. The gears will not match up if they are the wrong ratios. One of the gears is not meshing with the other and you are getting a bunch of space in between.

PM me if you have any more questions....my husband is the builder for sixspeedsinc.com

yeah, I know what you're talking about. The very last inch or something won't drop down right? It's the 5/6th linkage rod that's accepted into the back of the case. The rod needs to be pulled over, closer to the mainshaft, farther from the counter shaft. When you slip the case over, use a small tool, screwdriver or the such and pull it over. It'll drop right in.

We have an input takeout but not a cluster. The clusters are so expensive they are hard to find.
