Default 6 speed manual stuck in 4th!!

I have a 2002 camaro SS with only 15k on it. The other day i was driving along when suddenly i couldnt get out of 4th gear until i bashed on the stick. Third gear keeps on coming out of gear and making noise. I was wondering if anyone experienced this and if someone knows what the problem is? thanks

Sounds like the 3/4 shift keys are broken and wedging between the synchro inner and outer rings.

Time for a rebuild and some billet keys...

LOL, no joke. These damn T56's. They just don't seem to be built from GM for what we want to use them for. You can HOPE its only a slider key, synchro rebuild, and it will also be time to add a steel shift fork and an AFTERMARKET SHIFTER!

there is no easy fix. You need to pull the tranny and have someone tear it down and go threw it.Do yourself a favor and have a set of billet slider keys put in

Bingo to both of the above. Happened to mine in fourth and it was the little broken strut wedging into the gears. Mine never came out of fourth until we pulled the tranny and tore it down. Do not drive the car like this or you will risk damaging more than you already have.

Yep my tranny did the same thing. Get it rebuilt ASAP or you will do more damage.
