Default Good Transmission shop in MidWest?????

I am looking for a new auto tranny for a 1993 Z28 (its a 700R4, not the 4l60E), Anyways I was wondering if anyone knew of any good tranny shops here in the midwest. I was just looking for a rebuilt stock tranny, I don't race.......YET! Also what can I expect to pay for just a simple rebuilt one???
Thank

If you want a real built trans go to FLP (finish line performance) >> in sponsors section.
If you want a stock overhaul, have a local trans shop do it.

If looking for a stock tranny I would strongly recommend a GM remanufactured the prices are right and the warranty is great. They also have all the updates to the tranny since yours was built so it will be better than the original. If you want to prepare for racing then I have heard great things about FLPs ability to build a stout tranny it will cost you though.

What kind of engine modifications do you have? What are you planning on having in the future? We can build anything from a stock rebuild to a fully built trans. While you may pay more for a good transmission isnt it worth the extra cost so you dont have to pull it back out and have it rebuilt again?

Phil, my comment was more just a be prepared not meant to be a knock at all. I went the local shop route and requested a performance rebuild. I made a $1850 mistake when I did that it lasted just over a year some of that time behind the base 4.3L L99 Caprice engine most of it behind a stock b-body LT1 and a couple months with a mild cam. I really wish I had just shelled out the over $2K I have into the tranny and TC now the first time, that $1850 would have been more fun spent on heads and juice.
Personally I went with another builder but always mention you guys along with a select few others when someone asks for info.
The reason I recommend a GM reman for a stockish car is the 50K warranty included in the price makes it a very good deal, for a modified car though it is definetely worth just dropping the money on a good tranny from a forum or club recommended shop.
